Mumbai Indians won the IPL 2025 match against the Delhi Capitals by 12 runs on Sunday, April 13, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
Batting first in the match, Mumbai Indians posted 205 for 5 on the board as Tilak Varma, Ryan Rickelton, Suryakumar Yadav, and Naman Dhir played brilliant knocks. Defending the total, Mumbai Indians bowlers were taken to the cleaners, but they held their nerves and produced a hat-trick of run-outs in the 19th over to seal the win.
"Winning is always special, especially wins like this. He (Karun) was batting brilliantly, it seemed like it was going out of hand."
"(On Karn Sharma) Shows great character, to be brave and toss it up when the boundaries are just 60m long."
We never gave up - Hardik Pandya
"We never gave up, we kept saying we want to stay in the contest. Everyone put their hand up and we were able to hold on to our chances."
"(On the batting order) Wanted to get the players in form to face the most balls. Dew played a big factor later on, it got very dewy. Just by making sure the game is not over, “keep fighting” was the chatter. We knew a couple of wickets would change the game. It has happened with me before as well, wins like this change the momentum and turn everything around."
How did MI perform in the previous IPL match against DC?
Mumbai Indians won the toss and opted to bowl first in the match. The decision backfired heavily as they ended up conceding 257 runs in 20 overs as the Delhi Capitals batters went berserk at home.
Chasing a daunting target, MI faced early setbacks but stayed in the game until the final over, thanks to the efforts of Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya, and Tim David.
Then, Tim David showcased his batting prowess with a 17-ball 37, but MI's chase was derailed by DC pacers who picked wickets at regular intervals and stopped MI to 247/9.
