CHP asking for public’s help investigating fatal Sunday night crash in South Bay ...Middle East

The California Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that took place on the I-805 to the SR-54 merger on Sunday night.

At about 10:36 p.m. Sunday, a white Tesla 3 driven by a 22-year-old woman veered to the right on the north 805 at the 54 for unknown reasons and struck a guardrail.

The passenger of the Tesla, an as-yet unidentified man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Alcohol or drugs are believed to have been a factor in the crash, and the driver of the car was subsequently arrested.

CHP is investigating the sequence of events that led up to the fatal crash. They are asking anyone who might have more information to call them directly at (858) 293-6000.
