U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert met virtually with thousands of her constituents on Wednesday night, hosting a town hall over the phone where she discussed focuses for her time in office and took questions from callers.

The congressional representative hosted the “teletownhall” to speak with members of Colorado’s 4th Congressional District, which stretches the entire length of the state and includes 21 counties, stretching westward to towns including Loveland in the north and Castle Rock in the south.

About 1,200 people signed up for the call and Boebert’s office randomly selected about 87,000 residents from across the district who were called to be part of the conversation. Throughout the night, around 7,706 callers tuned in and listened to a portion of the event, with listeners peaking at around 1,500 at one time, according to Drew Sexton, Boebert’s deputy chief of staff and press secretary. He said that 2,512 of those on the call remained for longer than five minutes.

Boebert began the roughly hour-long discussion by thanking the constituents of her district for letting her be their voice in Washington, adding that this form of town hall allows her to meet with a wider audience of people in the district.

“That is not something I take lightly and it’s something I honor on a daily basis,” she said. “I want to represent you well, I want to make you proud, I want to uphold the Constitution and make sure you have a government that is working for you, the people.”

She highlighted some of the issues she has focused on so far this term, including her support of the Laken Riley act, signed by President Donald Trump earlier this year, and a continued focus on border security.

She also addressed a few things that she is currently working on in Congress that could impact Coloradans. These included a bill to delist the gray wolf from the endangered species list and a bill aimed at defunding the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, which she claimed has overreached on Second Amendment rights.

“I am not here to play games, I am here to fight for your freedom,” she said.

Boebert went on to answer questions from people across her district, some read by one of her team and some voiced live. The questions varied in focus and scope and came from those who were in support of what she was doing and those who were not.

Several Loveland residents had their questions heard in this portion of the town hall, including one person identified only as Christina who questioned how Boebert is protecting Americans from what she saw as the overreach of Elon Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency when it comes to private information. In response to this, Boebert claimed that Musk and his team have been careful and responsible in regard to this data and said she does not support “unelected bureaucrats accessing info.” She added she did not think Musk and DOGE have done that, but instead exposed it.

Questions from other callers ranged from concerns about cuts to Medicaid and programs like SNAP, the decrease in staff at federal fire services or the Environmental Protection Agency and one caller who agreed with the dismantling of the Department of Education, among many others.

In response to many questions regarding staff cuts, Boebert spoke of her concerns regarding “bureaucratic bloat.”

“We have a bloated bureaucracy and spending does not lead to better outcomes,” she said specifically in regard to a question about fire mitigation and fire services.

She also spent time praising Trump and some of the moves his administration has taken, particularly in terms of border security.

When one resident asked her to reaffirm her oath of office, she said she was thankful for the chance to serve in her role and defend the Constitution.

“It is something that should never be taken lightly,” Boebert said.

In closing, she said she plans to have more events like this and encouraged people with concerns to reach out to her office.

“Thank you for everything you do,” she said. “Let’s work together to get Colorado strong again.”

A recording of the event is expected to be posted in the near future at boebert.house.gov.
