The first week of spring goes to the dogs.
The Greeley Kennel Club will host its Performance Weekend at Island Grove, but other events in the Best of the Week of March 22-28 are human-friendly.
From ice skating and a screening of “Moana 2” to a college open house, the first week of spring includes events for humans of all ages, too.
Saturday
Day 1 of the Greeley Kennel Club Performance Weekend starts at 9 a.m. at Island Grove Park, 501 N. 14th Ave., Greeley. The two-day show features various events such as sniff n’ go nose work, canine good citizen testing, trick dog testing and other events. From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Cotton Candy Art will be at Berry Blendz 7008 W. 10th St., Greeley, to celebrate the first week of spring. Attendees can receive a free 16-ounce Berry Blendz smoothie with the purchase of any Cotton Candy Art.
The American Doll Skate is from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Greeley Ice Haus, 900 8th Ave. There will be ice skating with a free group lesson, face painting, crafting and other fun events. Attendees can enter to win Summer McKinny, the American Girl Doll of 2025. It’s $10 to enter which includes skate rental.
Sunday
The WOW NOCO Prom Popup Party is from 1-3 p.m. at Just For Kix, 1295 Main St., Windsor. The party will have free prom and formal attire for Northern Colorado high school students. The attire comes in different shapes and sizes. There will be shoes, jewelry, hair tools, toiletries and more. Raffle giveaways will be held every 15 minutes from 1:30-2:45 p.m. Attendees must be present for the raffle. Every student must present a student ID. To register, go to tinyurl.com/mt2n7nsp.
Tuesday
The documentary “When a King Came to Town” starts at 6 p.m. inside the Lindou Auditorium in the Michener Library on the University of Northern Colorado campus in Greeley. The documentary details the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s visit to Denver to attend a National Baptist Convention where he consulted with with several churches in the city. A question-and-answer session with producer and director Adam M. Dempsey will follow the screening. Parking is free.
Wednesday
Aims Community College’s Greeley campus will host an open house from 4-7 p.m. at the Student Commons, 5121 W. 20th St. Aims faculty, staff and students will be on hand to talk about everything the school offers. To register, go to tinyurl.com/y5kpmybb.
Thursday
The Windsor History Museum hosts spring break days from 10 a.m. to noon at the museum, 100 N. 5th St. There will be tours of the museum’s red caboose, historic games and historical fun for students.
Friday, March 28
Allo Fiber and Evans Recreation present dinner and a movie. Dinner starts at 5:15 p.m. at the Evans Community Complex, 1100 37th St. At 6 p.m. the movie “Moana 2” plays at the complex. Tickets are free and are available to pick up at the recreation front desk at the complex until Thursday, March 27.
