Palestinian Authority president Mahmoud Abbas on Tuesday said he was ready to hold presidential and parliamentary elections within the year – if circumstances allow – at an Arab League summit in Cairo aiming to counter US President Donald Trump's "Gaza Riviera" plan.  He also announced the creation of a vice-presidential position in his government.
