According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the company Ascent Consumer Products Inc. is recalling one lot of SinuCleanse Soft Tip Squeeze Bottle Nasal Wash System products due to "microbial contamination" with Staphylococcus aureus.
The affected products—marked with the Lot Number 024122661A1 and an expiration date of December 31, 2027—were distributed in January 2025 at retail locations and online sites, including Amazon.
The FDA reports that the affected product "can result in blood infections in users whose nasal mucosa may be compromised due to inflammation and mechanical injuries, caused by nasal irrigation."

These infections could lead to eye tissue infections, vision problems, cranial nerve damage or meningitis, which the FDA describes as "serious and potentially life-threatening."
Consumers who have purchased the affected product—which is mostly used as a nasal wash to relieve sinus symptoms, allergies and nasal congestion temporarily—are instructed by the FDA to "discontinue use immediately" and discard the product.
