The Jacksonville Jaguars bolster their defensive front in Field Yates’ latest 2025 NFL mock draft for ESPN.
With the fifth overall selection, Yates has the Jaguars selecting Michigan defensive tackle Mason Graham–a popular pick in many mock drafts for Jacksonville and understandably so.
Graham would provide a boost to the Jaguars interior defensive line, both as a pass rusher and in the running game.
Last season, he would total 34 pressures and five sacks. However, where Graham’s biggest impact may be felt is in the run game. Among all defensive tackles in 2024, Graham ranked first in PFF’s run defense grade and second in run-stop rate.
“Graham is one of my top three players, as he combines elite quickness off the ball as an interior disrupter and the strength to change the complexion of a run defense,” wrote Yates. “From the day he stepped onto Michigan’s campus, he was a difference-maker.”
The Jaguars defensive front would rank 32nd in ESPN’s pass rush win rate metric in 2024 and 27th in run stop win rate as a unit.
The addition of Graham to the mix would not only help improve the play of that group because of his own production, but a commanding presence in the middle of a defensive front demands attention and that in turn can help create opportunities for other Jaguars’ defenders as well.
The case for the Jaguars to select Graham with the fifth pick only grew after the Eagles’ Super Bowl performance, where their four-man front controlled the line of scrimmage, and therefore controlled the game.
