Revisit the Magic of the Week 16 Win, Some Jonah Jackson Appreciation, Playoff Incentives, and Other Bears Bullets ...Middle East

Sport by : (Bleacher Nation) -

Happy Friday, Bears fans! We are just one sleep away from this team’s first playoff game since 2020. And Soldier Field is just a day away from hosting its first NFL postseason event since 2018. We’ve come a long way since then, so I hope everyone is as ready as I am.

I hope we can look back at this season and remember that Week 16 game against the Packers as the moment this thing took off. This is absolute cinema and I’m happy to be sharing it atop this set of BN Bears Bullets:

— NFL Films (@NFLFilms) January 8, 2026 In an attempt to save myself from sending the same text reply (at least) a dozen times, I’m going to answer the “how are you feeling about the Bears this week?” question by saying I feel now the same way I did before the Cubs took on the Cardinals in the NLDS in 2015. If you know, you know. The 2025-26 Bears aren’t some fluke team. They are built in a way that Bears fans have been clamoring for since the Ryan Poles era began in 2022. This team has strength in the trenches along the offensive line, is quarterbacked by a young signal caller who has the talent and athleticism to make all the throws with a flair for the dramatic to do it in big moments, and is coached by someone whose primary focus is winning that week’s game at all costs. Is this team perfect? No. Are they a Super Bowl contender? Technically, yes. Qualifying for the tournament means you’re in it to win it. But no matter what happens in the postseason, this squad set a foundation for the future and a new standard to hold them by moving forward. But also, there are players who will suit up and cash in this postseason. Among them is Bears right guard Jonah Jackson, whose renegotiated contract extension with the Bears includes $1.25 million worth of playoff incentives. Joel Corry (CBS Sports) has a rundown of which players can make some extra bank this postseason.

I’m thankful that Olin Kreutz shared this because I feel as if Jonah Jackson deserves some more love than what he has gotten to this point:

— Olin kreutz (@olin_kreutz) January 5, 2026 Center Drew Dalman is headed to his first Pro Bowl. That signing has been championed as one of the best of the NFL’s offseason. As expected, left guard Joe Thuney will join Dalman as a Pro Bowler. And while Jackson is on the outside looking in at the Pro Bowl picture, it’s not as if he didn’t make a strong case for inclusion. The 28-year-old lineman has played on 98 percent of the team’s offensive snaps and has earned a 71.4 grade from Pro Football Focus, which put him tied for the 19th-best grade among the 81 guards who have played enough snaps to qualify for the leaderboard. It wasn’t a popular acquisition in some circles (for the record, I was on board with the idea before it even came to fruition) when it happened, but I’m sure Bears fans are OK with it now. I like the Bears’ chances if they can continue to keep Rashan Gary from being a game-changer:

There are 507 players with a TFL since Week 9 and 325 with at least half a sack.Rashan Gary, making $24 million per year, has neither. He told me he’s a “top player in this league,” but he needs to play like one for the Packers to make a run.Story: t.co/cb3uIeB0rS pic.twitter.com/bjgzmsnSVw

— Matt Schneidman (@mattschneidman) January 9, 2026 Chicago Sun-Times reporter Patrick Finley provides the Packers side of this rivalry as the collision course toward Saturday’s playoff game draws near. And he does so with an eye-opening lede sentence: “The Bear sknocked out Packers quarterback Jordan Love. Now Love can return the favor.” Bears quarterback Caleb Williams and cornerback Nick McCloud are up for the NFLPA’s Alan Page Community Award:

The time has come to vote for the five #CommunityMVP players you want to see advance as finalists for the Alan Page Community Award. ?️?Each finalist earns a $10K donation from the NFLPA to give back to the charity of his choice.Following a league-wide player vote for the 5… pic.twitter.com/w1V9UdxIo6

— NFLPA (@NFLPA) January 7, 2026 Of course someone had a Ben Johnson look-alike contest:

— ESPN Chicago (@ESPN1000) January 9, 2026 ESPN reports that the Dolphins have lined up Green Bay Packers exec Jon-Eric Sullivan to be their new general manager. Sullivan is currently in the Packers’ vice president of player personnel. It sure seems like Miami is going to make a run at John Harbaugh as its coach after firing Mike McDaniel on Thursday. It will be fascinating to follow what happens next.
