Members of North County Credit Union have approved a merger with Cabrillo Credit Union, a 70-year-old institution.
North County Credit Union will be known as North County Credit Union: A Division of Cabrillo Credit Union, following the merger, which took effect Feb. 1.
“This merger is a new chapter for North County Credit Union. By joining forces with Cabrillo Credit Union, we’re not just expanding our reach, but also enhancing the services and opportunities we can provide to our members,” Gary Sisk, North County Credit Union’s CEO, said in a news release.
Members can continue to bank as usual, officials said. Over the coming months, Cabrillo will integrate systems and services, and said the transition will be seamless, “with no disruption to current accounts or branch services.”
Updates on the integration will be shared with members via email, online, and in branches.
“This merger is more than an expansion — it’s a reflection of our commitment to serving members with excellence. We’re excited to build new relationships, strengthen existing ones, and deliver greater value to every member we serve,” said Kevin Posey, CEO of Cabrillo Credit Union.
Cabrillo has branches in downtown San Diego, Scripps Ranch, Chula Vista and La Mesa. North County Credit Union’s main branch is in Rancho Bernardo.
Cabrillo was founded in 1955 to serve Border Patrol agents in San Diego. Now it has over 26,000 members, including federal employees, Sharp HealthCare professionals, and the greater San Diego community.
