Returning Police Shows for Fall 2026

Boston Blue (CBS)

Boston Blue stars Donnie Wahlberg as he reprises his role as NYPD Detective Danny Reagan, as he moves to a new position with the Boston Police Department in order to be closer to his son Sean (Mika Amonsen), who is a rookie, following in the family business but just in a new city. Danny is paired with Detective Lena Silver (Sonequa Martin-Green), the eldest daughter of a prominent law enforcement family not unlike the Reagans. The Silver family is also comprised of Boston District Attorney Mae Silver (Gloria Reuben), Police Superintendent Sarah Silver (Maggie Lawson), rookie cop Jonah Silver (Marcus Scribner) and renowned Baptist pastor Reverend Edwin Peters (Ernie Hudson).

Elsbeth (CBS)

Carrie Preston returns as Elsbeth Tascioni (who was originally introduced in The Good Wife), the cunning yet unconventional consent decree attorney working with the NYPD to track down New York’s most well-heeled murderers, utilizing her unique intuitive insight. Based in the 11th Precinct, Elsbeth’s boss is Captain C.W. Wagner (Wendell Pierce).

High Potential (ABC)

High Potential stars Kaitlin Olson as Morgan Gillory, a single mom with an exceptional mind – an IQ of 160, classifying her as a high-potential intellectual (HPI), whose unconventional knack for solving crimes leads to a unique partnership with a by-the-book seasoned detective (Daniel Sunjata) at the LAPD.

Marshals (CBS)

Marshals stars Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton, who with the Yellowstone Ranch behind him, joins an elite unit of U.S. Marshals, combining his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring range justice to Montana, where he and his teammates must balance family, duty and the high psychological cost that comes with serving as the last line of defense in the region’s war on violence.

NCISfocuses on the sometimes complex and always amusing dynamics of a team of special agents forced to work together in high-stress situations. Special Agent Alden Parker (Gary Cole) leads the NCIS team, which includes NCIS Special Agent Timothy McGee (Sean Murray), NCIS Special Agent Nicholas “Nick” Torres (Wilmer Valderrama), and NCIS Special Agent Jessica Knight (Katrina Law). Assisting the team is Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen), a fully licensed medical examiner who runs the morgue; and forensic scientist Kasie Hines (Diana Reasonover). From murder and espionage to terrorism and stolen submarines, these special agents investigate all crimes with Navy or Marine Corps ties.

NCIS: Origins (CBS)

NCIS: Sydney is the first-ever international edition of the franchise, based in Australia as a result of rising international tensions in the Indo-Pacific. There an eclectic team of U.S. NCIS agents and the Australian Federal Police (AFP) work together as a multinational taskforce to keep naval crimes in check in the most contested patch of ocean on the planet. Led by NCIS Special Agent Michelle Mackey (Olivia Swann) and her 2IC AFP counterpart, Sergeant Jim “JD” Dempsey (Todd Lasance), this team of Americans and Aussies overcome their differences to solve each case.

Sheriff Country (CBS)

Based on the series of novels by author Jeffery Deaver, Justin Hartley is back as lone-wolf survivalist Colter Shaw in Tracker. Colter continues to wrestle with hard truths about his family’s history, while aided by his trusted team, he continues to do what he does best: using his instincts and survival skills to find the missing and collect rewards.

Einstein

Einstein stars Matthew Gray Gubler as Lew Einstein, a brilliant but directionless great-grandson of Albert Einstein, who spends his days as a comfortably tenured professor until his bad boy antics land him in trouble with the law and he is pressed into service helping a local police detective solve the most puzzling cases.

Law & Order(NBC)

Law & Order is known for its unique split format and examines “the police who investigate crime and the district attorneys who prosecute the offenders.” Hugh Dancy, Tony Goldwyn, Odelya Halevi, Reid Scott and Maura Tierney star.

Murder in a Small Town (FOX)

Murder in a Small Town follows Karl Alberg (Rossif Sutherland), who recently moved to the quiet coastal town of Gibsons to be the new police chief, and quickly learns that his new town has more than its share of secrets. As a world-class detective, Karl calls upon all his skills to solve murders that, even in this seemingly idyllic setting, continue to wash up on his shore. Meanwhile, his deepening relationship with the town librarian Cassandra Lee (Kristin Kreuk) is challenged as her career and community involvement take her in new and unexpected directions. 

The Hunting Party (NBC)

The Hunting Party is a high-concept crime procedural about a small team of investigators led by former FBI profiler Rebecca "Bex" Henderson (Melissa Roxburgh). They’ve been assembled to track down and capture the most dangerous killers the world has ever seen, all of whom have just escaped from The Pit, a top-secret government prison that’s not supposed to exist.

Will Trent (ABC)

Based on Karin Slaughter’s New York Times bestselling Will Trent series, Special Agent Will Trent (Ramón Rodríguez) of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) was abandoned at birth and endured a harsh coming-of-age in Atlanta’s overwhelmed foster care system. Now, Will uses his unique point of view in the pursuit of justice and has the highest clearance rate in the GBI.

9-1-1 explores the high-pressure experiences of first responders, who run into situations that most of us run away from. These emergency responders must try to balance saving those who are at their most vulnerable with solving the problems in their own lives. The show draws from the real lives of first responders who regularly face situations that are often unpredictable, intense and uplifting at the same time.

Fire Country (CBS)

Fire Country stars Max Thieriot as Bode Leone, a young convict who sought redemption and a shortened prison sentence by joining a prison release firefighting program in Northern California, where he and other inmates were partnered with elite firefighters to extinguish massive, unpredictable wildfires across the region. Bode has since graduated the prison program and is now a permanent member of Cal Fire.

Best Medicine (FOX)

Best Medicine, based on the critically acclaimed and beloved global hit Doc Martin, follows Martin Best (Josh Charles), a brilliant surgeon who abruptly leaves his illustrious career in Boston to become the general practitioner in a quaint East Coast fishing village where he spent summers as a child. Unfortunately, Martin's blunt and borderline rude bedside manner rubs the quirky, needy locals the wrong way, including schoolteacher Louisa Gavin (Abigail Spencer). He quickly alienates the town, even though he's all they have. Martin's terse demeanor masks a debilitating new phobia. But tenacity is the creed of everyone in their small village, and the people who live there may be exactly what the doctor ordered.

Inspired by a true story and based on the hit eponymous Italian drama series, Doc follows the heartbreak and victories of brilliant physician Dr. Amy Larsen (Molly Parker) as she rebuilds her life after a car crash erased eight years of her memory. Determined to get her memory back and piece together who she really is, Amy’s goal is to become the doctor she used to be in those missing years and to eventually, once again, be Chief of Internal Medicine.

While Watson's team of “doc-tectives” may have defeated Moriarty last season, they remain determined in season two in their mission to investigate and treat the world’s most rare diseases for their clinic’s patients. With his eyes fixed on the future, Watson faces an unexpected twist when Sherlock Holmes, who was presumed dead, resurfaces, forcing him to confront a buried secret from his past – one that lies hidden within his own body.
