This week is a lighter one in local government, but there are still some key items on the agendas. Orange County Commissioners will hear from the public on a proposed development in Bingham Township; the Chapel Hill-Carrboro school board will address school capacity; and the Durham City Council will consider bike and pedestrian safety and connectivity.
Here’s a rundown of local government meetings this week in Durham, Orange, and Chatham Counties.
Orange County
The Carrboro Town Council meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday, February 4. Click here for the full agenda, which is a light one: council members will be assigned to serve as liaisons to various boards and committees.
Orange County Commissioners meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, February 4. Click here for the full agenda, which includes a public hearing for a proposed development in Bingham Township.
And the Chapel Hill-Carrboro school board meets at 6 p.m. Thursday, February 6. Board members will discuss the district’s annual school capacity report, vote to begin collaborating with Orange County on a 10-year funding plan and hold a work session on North Carolina’s Student Information System. Chatham and Durham Counties
Durham County Commissioners have a work session at 9 a.m. Monday, February 3. Commissioners will discuss a possible new downtown convention center and hear presentations on transit, food security, and early childhood initiatives including pre-K. Click here for the full agenda.
The Durham City Council meets twice this week, at 7 p.m. Monday, February 3, and then again at 1 p.m. Thursday, February 6. Monday’s meeting includes a public hearing on a proposed apartment complex; Thursday’s work session includes an annual report from the city’s bicycle and pedestrian advisory commission. And the Durham school board also meets twice this week – both on Thursday, February 6. The board will convene in closed session at 8:00 that morning to follow up on their November retreat; then the board will have its regular meeting at 5:30 that evening.
