Bhubaneswar: BJD President and Leader of Opposition in Assembly, Naveen Patnaik has condoled the demise of renowned Odia lyricist Brundaban Jena. Taking to his ‘X’ handle, Naveen said that he was saddened to know about the passing away of noted lyricist and director Brundaban Jena. The lyrics he left behind in many popular Odia movies will always be remembered, Naveen said.
The BJD President also offered his sympathies to the bereaved family of Jena and prayed peace to the departed soul.
Jena died while undergoing treatment at hospital in Cuttack. He was 87.
Jena had written lyrics for over 30 Odia films and had directed two popular Odia films.
Jena was a recipient of several prestigious awards, including the Odisha Sahitya Akademi Award, Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, Odia Geetikabi Samman, Fakir Mohan Geetishree Samman and Jitikabi Samman.
