"At the end of the day, obviously it is the Board's responsibility. We can't say someone else is responsible for it but we could have seen everything differently. The things that happened were still very unexpected. Having said that, we have to take responsibility," Nazmul said after the meeting with all the owners at BCB headquarters in Dhaka.
"Obviously when we do something like this, we will consider these things. We know that there was a special situation and we weren't sure whether we would be able to do BPL and with how many teams," Nazmul explained.
BCB on cheque bounce issues
Nazmul Abedeen Fahim further spoke on creating a good relationship with the franchises and revealed that he didn't expect a franchise to be involved in such an issue. The BCB has informed the franchises of all the issues and hopes to resolve them soon.
"We observed some activities that don't align with the spirit of the BPL, and we reminded them of these issues. There are also payment concerns we talked about. Discussions were held regarding their plans, and we have reached some understanding," the BPL governing council secretary claimed.
"It is very unfortunate. The issue of cheque bouncing never even crossed my mind. One or two franchises have failed to fulfill their financial commitments, but most of them have lived up to their promises," Nazmul observed.
