A WWE star was taken to hospital following a scary moment during Raw on Monday night.
The opening match saw the War Raiders defend the World Tag Team Championship against the Judgement Day’s Dominik Mysterio and JD McDonagh.
McDonagh suffered a terrifying injury on Raw this weekWWEDuring the bout, McDonagh performed a springboard moonsault off the middle rope to the outside of the ring, but the back of his neck smashed against the announce desk.
His bump drew a loud gasp from the crowd, with commentator Michael Cole urging ‘somebody to check on’ the Irish star afterwards, suggesting he was lucky to not have a broken neck.
Despite the terrifying moment, McDonagh continued to the end of the match.
His efforts were in vain, though, as the War Raiders defended their titles.
McDonagh was then taken to hospital, and provided an update to fans on social media, confirming a number of serious injuries.
“First off, thanks to everyone for the messages and the concern. I’m good,” he wrote on X.
“I’ve got a couple of broken ribs and a punctured lung, so I’m going to be out for a couple months. All things considered, it could have been a lot worse, so I’m grateful for that.
“See ya in a bit.”
After McDonagh shared his statement, fans were quick to wish him a speedy recovery, and gave him credit for finishing the match despite his injuries.
“One of the most underrated performers anyone can find, get well soon we love you,” one fan wrote.
McDonagh was praised by fans for finishing his matchGetty“Rest up JD, you’ve been doing such an amazing job the entire time on the main roster. You definitely earned the rest period. Take all the time you need for the recovery,” another said.
“You were a stud out there for completing the match after that, rest up bro,” a third wrote.
Fellow WWE star Chad Gable also sent a message of support, sharing a four-word statement on X.
“JD McDonagh is remarkable,” he wrote.
Ivar, one half of the War Raiders tag team, simply tweeted ‘respect’ and the praying emoji in response to the news.
With McDonagh set to be sidelined for a couple of months, plans for the Judgement Day could be changed as WWE heads into WrestleMania season.
WWE’s plans for the Judgement Day may need to change heading into WrestleManiaWWEThe stable has been wreaking havoc for a number of years now, but it appears more recently they have lost a lot of momentum.
Liv Morgan lost the Women’s World Championship to Rhea Ripley on Raw’s debut Netflix show, while fellow Judgement Day member Finn Balor suffered defeat at the hands of Damian Priest in a street fight a couple of weeks ago.
With Mysterio and McDonagh losing to the War Raiders in a tag team title match, even before the extent of the latter’s injuries were confirmed, it’s unclear what WWE will do with the Judgement Day heading into this weekend’s Royal Rumble and beyond.
