Now, Ravichandran Ashwin has taken some time out to give a cricketing lesson to Harry Brook for his 'smog' excuse and offered him tips to deal with the threat of the mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy.
Brook failed to live up to the hype in the Kolkata T20I after being appointed as the vice-captain of the England white-ball team. He only managed to score 17 runs off 14 balls before being bowled by a wrong'un from Varun Chakravarthy.
As the action moved to the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, Chennai, there was no sign of smog, but Brook's performance didn't improve as he scored only 13 runs before Varun Chakravarthy rattled his stumps with a brilliant delivery.
I just want to tell one thing to Harry Brook.... - Ravichandran Ashwin
The legendary spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has also now shared his views on the comment made by Brook.
"There was no smog in Chennai. So, Harry Brook said he got out because of smog at Eden Gardens. I just want to tell one thing to Harry Brook - 'Harry Brook, keep this thing in mind that Varun Chakravarthy does not bowl leg-spin much, his main strength is googlies only.'"
It doesn't matter how the light is - Ravichandran Ashwin
Ashwin advised Brook to see the spinner's hand properly to get an idea of the delivery before playing shots instead of blaming light or smog for his dismissal. He elaborated:
"If you see his hand, you can read the googly. It doesn't matter how the light is, if you don't see the googly coming, you won't be able to play it."
