Police are investigating the deaths of two men in Colchester County, N.S., over the weekend that have now been ruled homicides.

Nova Scotia RCMP said in a news release Tuesday that a 27-year-old man from Truro and a 25-year-old man from Pictou Landing First Nation were seen at hospital on the evening of Dec. 19 with serious stab wounds.

On Dec. 21 at approximately 11:50 p.m., RCMP and EHS responded to a report of a male in medical distress at a home on Vincent Drive in Upper Onslow near Truro. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

About 10 hours later, Truro police officers and paramedics responded to another call of a male in medical distress at a home on Lavinia Drive in Truro. He was also pronounced dead at the scene.

The two deceased were subsequently identified as the victims of the stabbings and the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service on Monday ruled the deaths as homicides.

RCMP say they believe the men were assaulted by a person or persons in Colchester County and that the stabbing incident was not a random act.
