I still find it odd that the Houston Astros even wanted Nolan Arenado at this point, but they reportedly had designs on installing him at third base upon Alex Bregman’s departure in free agency, and newly-acquired Isaac Paredes would move over to first base.
None of it matters now, though, because Arenado said no:

That’s a real shame for the Cardinals, who’ve been quite transparent about trying to move as much of Arenado’s remaining deal as possible. Gotta said, it’d be nice if he puts sufficient screws to the Cardinals that they have only one or two places he’d go, and they thus get absolutely nothing in return.
