The White Sox Changed Their Ballpark Name Again ...Middle East

Sport by : (Bleacher Nation) -

Some people still call it Comiskey, though obviously it hasn’t even been that same physical ballpark for 30 years. Then it was the new ballpark, which was also called Comiskey, but it was, like, Comiskey II or New Comiskey. Then it was U.S. Cellular Field, though mostly we called it The Cell. Then it was Guaranteed Rate Field, and people mostly had just barely adjusted to that name within the last couple years. Guaranteed Rate, or G-Rate.

But now it’s changing again.

I mean, OK. Rate Field? That is quite dumb, but the naming sponsor can do whatever they want, I guess. It’s obviously because Guaranteed Rate is becoming just Rate, which is its own kind of stupid – so you don’t guarantee things now? Stand behind your rates, you cowards!

This is a baseball site, so I’m just focused on the ballpark name. And I don’t know how long it’s going to take me to adjust again to get it right. You gotta stop doing this. We do not like changing names in Chicago. The Sears Tower hasn’t been the Sears Tower for 15 years, but it’s still the Sears Tower.

I might just start calling it Comiskey again.
