Tuolumne, CA – First responders are releasing new information related to a deadly house fire in the Tuolumne community this past weekend. Fire officials recount how the victim, 84-year-old Richard Mello, was found and how they tried to save him. As earlier reported here, the flames broke out in the home in the 18000 block of Bodenhammer Avenue around 8:12 pm on Saturday, October 5, 2024. It was reported as a residential structure fire with possible occupants still in the home. Upon arrival, firefighters found the home was 50% involved in flames, and one of the residents was found outside. He had sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to a Sacramento burn center.
