La Liga Soccer:Real Madrid vs. Real Betis 2-0

Sport by : (PRESSBEE) -

La Liga, Spain's premier football league, has historically showcased intense rivalries and compelling matchups. One such encounter was between Real Madrid and Real Betis, where the former emerged victorious with a scoreline of 2-0. This match not only highlighted Real Madrid's dominance in Spanish football but also underscored the tactical nuances that characterize La Liga fixtures. The victory reinforced Real Madrid's status as a formidable force in the league while simultaneously illustrating the challenges faced by mid-table teams like Betis.

The first half of the match set the tone for Real Madrid's performance, as they exhibited a blend of disciplined defense and fluid attacking play. The opening goal came from an incisive counter-attack that showcased the team's speed and precision. This moment exemplified Real Madrid’s strategic approach under their current management, emphasizing quick transitions and exploiting defensive lapses from opponents. In contrast, Real Betis struggled to maintain possession and failed to create significant scoring opportunities, reflecting their difficulties against more established teams.

Carlo Ancelotti's side will look to bounce back after a disappointing 1-1 draw with Las Palmas on Thursday, as things haven't gone to plan for Real Madrid yet despite the addition of Kylian Mbappe.

Although they defeated Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup, Los Blancos have only been able to muster one win from their opening three matches. With rivals Barcelona on 12 points from four matches, Ancelotti's men need a win on Sunday to keep pace and once again cut the deficit down to four.

Betis were well organised in defence and often dangerous on the counter, with forward Abde Ezzalzouli missing two clear chances in the first 15 minutes that could have shocked Real.

With Rodrygo fixed in the right channel, Mbappé and Vinícius struggled to find their mojo as they alternated positions early on, with the same problems from previous games suggesting Madrid must work harder than expected to fit Mbappé into their system.

Mbappé missed a couple of clear chances from crosses by Vinicius and failed to beat defenders for pace in the opening stages but looked more like his old self in a couple of runs from the middle and the left wing as the game progressed.

With a no-doubt stern team talk from Carlo Ancelotti ringing in their ears, Madrid set the tone when Vinicius’ deflected attempt hit the woodwork, with the offside flag sparring Mbappe’s blushes as he fired over on the rebound.

Yet Mbappe showed greater composure to end his wait for a La Liga goal in the 67th minute, calmly tucking beyond Silva after sublime play from Valverde.

Silva thought he had got lucky after bringing down Vinicius soon after, only for VAR to spot that Madrid’s attacker had stayed onside before he was fouled by the Betis goalkeeper, and Mbappe duly made no mistake from 12 yards to seal the points.
