CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A person has been charged after running a stop sign and hitting a motorcyclist who died in north Charlotte Sunday morning, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. Around 9:10 a.m., officers responded to the 6500 block of Old Statesville Road about a crash involving two vehicles. When they arrived, they saw a 2016 Mercedez Benz GLE 350 with heavy front-end damage and a damaged 2017 Harley Davidson motorcycle. The motorcyclist, 47-year-old Dennis Paul Koch, was transported to a local hospital where he died of his injuries, officials said.
