CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- A woman has died after being hit by a train in South End, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. Around 9:20 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 16, officers responded to the 600 block of W. Summit Ave. for reports of an unresponsive woman near the railroad tracks. When they arrived, they found 36-year-old Midaina Marrero dead at the scene. Investigators believe Marrero was walking on the railroad tracks when she was hit by the train, officials said.
