Kubo, the young Japanese football sensation, has recently signed a $30 million deal with Liverpool Football Club. This transfer has made headlines across the globe as fans eagerly anticipate seeing Kubo in action for his new team. The move is seen as a strategic one by Liverpool, who are looking to bolster their attacking options and add depth to their squad.
Kubo's rise to stardom has been nothing short of meteoric. At just 19 years old, he has already made a name for himself as one of the most promising young talents in world football. His pace, skill, and vision on the pitch have caught the eye of top clubs around the world, and it comes as no surprise that Liverpool were keen to secure his services.
It is even claimed that “negotiations are already in the final stages” with the speedy Japan international, but sources closer to home have quashed the rumour.
Kubo is on the brink of becoming a Red.”
Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano has also suggested that a move won’t be happening, saying he is “not aware of anything really concrete happening” regarding Kubo.
The interviewer, Akihiko Kawabata, then noted the Reds were a team with fast players at the time - assumedly alluding to Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane - suggesting that Kubo enjoys teams like that. "I really like them," Kubo replied. "Fast and skilled players like that. I think there are players like that on every team at a strong club, and when I watch them, I think, 'Wow, they're amazing.'"
Liverpool aside from Mohamed Salah, which would be an uncharacteristic move from the Reds, to say the least.
But like Salah, Kubo operates as a left-footed right winger and would be the ideal replacement for the long-serving Egyptian. Dubbed the "Japanese Messi", Kubo has 16 goals and 14 assists in 85 appearances across all competitions for Real Sociedad and was instrumental in their return to the Champions League for the 2023-24 campaign, their first appearance in the competition for nine years.
Kubo, a key player in Imanol's scheme, made 30 appearances out of 38 in La Liga last season, scoring seven goals and providing four assists from the right wing, also playing in the Champions League with Real Sociedad. Is this the signing Liverpool needs to revamp their attack?
