MORGANTON, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- A man is charged with animal cruelty after he kicked and shot a cat which later resulted in its death, according to the Burke County Sheriff's Office. On July 15, investigators received a report about a breaking and entering incident involving animal cruelty. The next day, officials spoke with the victim and were shown video of the incident. The suspect was quickly identified as 37-year-old Dustin Timothy McCormack. According to the victim, they were renting property from McCormack for almost a year at the time of the incident.
