A battle with cancer ended with Dario G star Paul Spencer death

Paul Spencer, better known as Dario G Star. Spencer's battle with cancer ultimately led to his untimely death, leaving behind a legacy of music and inspiration for countless fans.

Spencer rose to fame as part of the electronic music group Dario G, known for their hit songs such as "Sunchyme" and "Carnaval de Paris." His contributions to the music industry were not only significant but also influential, shaping the sound of dance and electronic music for years to come.

DJ and producer Spencer, who was known for songs including Carnaval De Paris, Sunchyme and Ring Of Fire, died on Monday following a battle with cancer.

He was 53, according to the BBC.

A post to his social media page on Monday said: “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Paul Spencer earlier today.

Between 1998 and 2020, Dario G released three studio albums, ‘Sunmachine’, ‘In Full Colour’, and their final record, ‘Hola’. Spencer worked with countless artists over the years, including Sonique, Shirley Bassey, and Clean Bandit.

Several Dario G tracks have appeared in both film and TV. 'Sunchyme' appeared in the finale episode of Derry Girls, while their 2000 track 'Voices' made an appearance in the Danny Boyle-directed film The Beach.

The original group, named after then manager of Crewe Alexandra FC, Dario Gradi, was best known for their debut single Sunchyme which reached number two on the UK singles chart in 1997.

It was kept off the top spot by Sir Elton John's tribute to Princess Diana, Candle In During that period, he recorded a track called We Got Music with Dame Shirley Bassey, and collaborated with Clean Bandit and Jess Glynne on a remix of Real Love - which incorporated elements of Sunchyme.

Paul announced his cancer diagnosis last June, telling fans he was "gonna give it my best shot though" and urging them to "stay positive, 'cos I am".

Over the next months, he documented his treatment on social media, and released a song Savour the Miracle of Life, to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

In his last post, just three weeks ago, he was still maintaining a positive attitude.
