In a dominating display of skill and teamwork, the Denver Nuggets showed up ready to play as they routed the Minnesota Timberwolves 117-90. From the opening tip-off, it was clear that the Nuggets were on a mission to assert their dominance on both ends of the court.
Led by their star players Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray, the Nuggets executed crisp passes, knocked down shots from all over the floor, and played suffocating defense that left the Timberwolves struggling to find any rhythm. The Nuggets' depth was also on full display as their bench players came in and contributed with energy and scoring.
The Nuggets struggled to find their rhythm on both ends of the court, as they were unable to contain Minnesota's offensive firepower and were outrebounded throughout the game. The Timberwolves' defense was also stifling, forcing numerous turnovers and limiting Denver's scoring opportunities.
The Denver Nuggets avoided falling into a 3-0 hole with their win over the Minnesota Timberwolves in Friday night's Game 3. Blowing the Timberwolves out behind a dominant performance from Nikola Jokic, the Nuggets got on the board in this series with a massive road victory.
After a tight first quarter, the Nuggets closed out the period on a quick 12-4 burst to grab an eight-point lead at the break. That was, at that point, Denver's largest lead of the series.
Christian Braun drilled a 3-pointer just minutes into the quarter. Just like that, the Timberwolves were nearly out of it.
Naz Reid received a technical foul in the third quarter. Kyle Anderson did in the fourth. So did Nickeil Alexander-Walker, who ran into a hard screen and seemed to injure himself. It was a complete officiating reversal from the previous game.
The Timberwolves waved the white flag and subbed in their reserves down by 32 — their biggest lead in Game 2 — with 5:54 remaining.
The Nuggets have listed Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (abdominal contusion), Reggie Jackson (left calf contusion) and Jamal Murray (calf contusion) all as questionable. Malone said everybody is banged up in the playoffs and indicated he expected his players to play on.
