By Paul Yarbrough for the UCCA On Sunday, April 21, Elena Casanova will present a multi-media performance called “Cuban Classical.” This final presentation of the 2023-24 Season of the Ukiah Community Concert Association will take place at the Mendocino College Center Theatre at 2pm and will be followed by a catered reception for season members. As a fellow musician and board member of the UCCA, I was privileged to attend the dress rehearsal for “Cuban Classical.” When I was in music school, the pianists were the ones who practiced the most. So many hours spent alone, not exactly the Maytag repairman routine maybe, but a decidedly solitary pursuit. And that’s partly what I find so remarkable
