UNC Baseball Drops 2nd Game of Series at No. 15 Virginia ...Middle East

Vance Honeycutt hit two home runs, but that was all the offense the Diamond Heels could muster Friday night at No. 15 Virginia, as the Cavaliers cruised to a 7-2 win to clinch the three-game series. Carolina will look to avoid a sweep on Saturday. Virginia jumped in front early with a three-run blast in the bottom of the 1st inning. But UNC starter Jason DeCaro settled down after that, keeping the Cavaliers off the scoreboard for the next five innings. Honeycutt’s two solo shots cut the deficit down to 3-2 entering the seventh, but a first-pitch home run and a four-pitch walk signaled the end of DeCaro’s night in the bottom of the inning. The Cavaliers would score two more runs in the frame
