The nine-time Grammy winner’s soft, emotional vocals were highlighted by the sparse piano accompaniment, then elevated even more as an orchestra kicked in midsong.
Oscars 2024 ceremony, The Zone of Interest director Jonathan Glazer talked about the themes in his movie and “dehumanization” in the context of Israel and Palestine while accepting the award for Best International Feature. “All our choices were made to reflect and confront us in the present … Our film shows where dehumanization leads at its worst," he said. "Right now we stand here as men who refute their Jewishness and the Holocaust being hijacked by an occupation which has led to conflict for so many innocent people. Whether the victims of October 7th in Israel or the ongoing attack on, all the victims of this dehumanization, how do we resist?"
