A man’s body was pulled from the Russian River Friday morning, the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office reported. MCSO Capt Quincy Cromer said personnel from the Mendocino County Coroner’s Office responded to an area of the river near the end of Norgard Lane around 10:05 a.m. March 1 after being notified by the Ukiah Police Department that a body had been found in the water. UPD Chief Cedric Crook said that a city employee checking infrastructure in the area following recent rainfall had discovered the body and notified law enforcement, but that the case was determined to be in MCSO jurisdiction and was being handled by that agency.
