BIG BAY, Mich. (WLUC) – Big Bay residents got to enjoy a skiing and snowshoeing competition while supporting local trails this weekend. The Honey Bear Classic Ski and Snowshoe Race takes place annually at the Big Bay Pathway. This weekend marked the 35th year the event took place. Participant donations will go directly towards grooming community trails to encourage outdoor recreation. “Having the trailhead right here uptown Big Bay is a chance to bring the community together and it’s really important to keep them maintained and keep them going simply so that winter recreation can take place,” said Honey Bear Classic director Marcia Gonstead.
