(KPLC) – Legislators, other elected officials, and DOTD representatives came together for the DOTD Road Show, allowing the public to request improvements on transportation in Southwest Louisiana. A main focus for Calcasieu Parish is keeping the toll at the new I-10 bridge affordable for motorists, once it is constructed. “Over the next 6 to 7 years, we ask the state – during the construction time – we ask the state to do all they can to help reduce that toll and keep it at a reasonable rate and then specifically for help for our trucking industry to make sure multiple trips across that bridge are not punitive against them,” Lake Charles Mayor Nic Hunter said.
