Ravens’ loss in the AFC Title Game 2-4 was a devastating blow to the team and its fans. After a hard-fought season, filled with victories and moments of brilliance, it seemed that the Ravens were destined for greatness. However, on that fateful day, they faced a formidable opponent who proved to be their downfall.
The game started off with great promise for the Ravens. Their offense was firing on all cylinders, scoring two quick touchdowns in the first quarter. The defense was also playing exceptionally well, shutting down their opponent's offense and forcing turnovers. It appeared that victory was within reach.
Lamar Jackson bore little resemblance to the quarterback who deftly maneuvered through the season playing like a consensus MVP.
Super Bowl, what I’ve been talking about all season, my team has been talking about all season,” Jackson said after Sunday’s 17-10 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. “We fell short. The offense, we didn’t put nothing on the board. We scored once. That’s not like us. I’m not frustrated, I’m angry because I know how hard we worked to get here.”

“We mad. We were one win away from the Super Bowl, what I’ve been talking about all season, my team has been talking about all season,” Jackson said after Sunday’s 17-10 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. “We fell short. The offense, we didn’t put nothing on the board. We scored once. That’s not like us. I’m not frustrated, I’m angry because I know how hard we worked to get here.”
On Sunday, Jackson couldn't put the Ravens on his back in the situations they needed him to do so most in the biggest game of his life.
Should that be held against him? Not necessarily. We've seen him carry the Ravens in the past. But on this stage, his failure to do it again accentuated more than anything his gap with Patrick Mahomes, who remains a tier above him.
The two-time MVP delivered a great performance to lead the Chiefs to their fourth Super Bowl appearance in five years: a 76.9% completion rate (30-of-39 passing) for 241 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions. Tight end Travis Kelce delivered, too (11 catches, 116 yards).
Before the game, Ravens fans were in good spirits. After the game, despite their muddled feelings, some of them still stopped to reflect on how Jackson had carried the team forward, moving it closer toward a Lombardi Trophy.
"Lamar stepped up. He took another step this year. Won a playoff game. Got the championship game. He did really well."
Maryland Gov. Wes Moore focused on the future, noting that the Ravens would have other opportunities to display their skills.
