Tennessee Titans win over Miami Dolphins (28-27)

Sport by : (PRESSBEE) -

Miami Dolphins host the Tennessee Titans at Hard Rock Stadium in primetime on Monday Night Football, marking the first Monday Night Football game the Dolphins have hosted since 2017.

Coach Mike McDaniel's Miami Dolphins have done a lot of winning this season: They're 9-3 for the first time in 22 years and are tied for the best record in the AFC. They've outscored opponents 384-266 with an offense that leads the NFL in passing, yards per play, yards per rush and red-zone efficiency.

Tennessee Titans when we’re game planning ... then all those conversations and stories literally don’t matter at all.”

Hosting a playoff game is the Dolphins' long-term goal as they try to close in on their first division title since 2008. This week's only focus is beating the Tennessee Titans (4-8) on Monday night.

The loss kept the Dolphins from regaining the top spot in the AFC standings and kept their magic number for clinching the AFC East title at three.

The Dolphins took advantage of two bad Tennessee miscues to turn a 13-13 tie in the fourth quarter into a 27-13 lead.

Eric Garror tried to field a bouncing punt and the second was a fumble on a botched pitch from rookie QB Will Levis to running back Derrick Henry.

The Titans defense sacked Tua Tagovailoa five times, including one from Harold Landry III on fourth down on the Dolphins’ last drive to seal the victory. The quarterback finished 23-of-33 for 240 yards. It was the first time this season he didn’t score a touchdown.

Tennessee was up 13-10 at the half and three Dolphins players, including star receiver Tyreek Hill, were injured. Hill suffered an ankle injury and was questionable to return, but came back on the field in the third quarter. The Dolphins offense had good balance, though it didn't produce the big numbers we've seen all season at home.

Miami finished with 342 yards, 158 on the ground and 208 through the air, but Tua was held without a touchdown pass for the first time since Week 4 of the 2022 season.
