EDMONTON – The Misericordia Community Hospital in Edmonton has undergone an $85 million expansion to its emergency department and will open later in the month. The upgraded emergency department is 5,500 square metres and has the capacity to accommodate about 60,000 patient visits per year, which will help reduce wait times and improve the patient experience, a Government of Alberta release said. “This expansion was built while the rest of the hospital remained fully operational.
