WARREN — A sex offender pleaded not guilty Wednesday to a charge of failure to notify, a fourth-degree felony. Matthew Guthrie, 35, is being held in the Trumbull County Jail on $5,000 bond, set by Trumbull County Common Pleas Court Judge Sean J. O’Brien. Guthrie is due back in court Nov. 9. Guthrie had listed an address on Amy Boyle Road NE in Brookfield but was found by the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office to be staying at a home in Hermitage, Pa., with his girlfriend and her children. In October 2012, Guthrie was sentenced by former common pleas Judge Peter J. Kontos to 15 months in prison on a rape charge involving a 13-year-old girl.
