VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. – Officers with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to a multi-vehicle collision on Highway 1 just south of Tonga Street which required a helicopter to land on the highway for a medical airlift of one of the injured people Friday morning. According to CHP, officers were responding to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 1 around 7:32 a.m. Friday and used an unoccupied CHP cruiser with its lights on to block traffic when a 2007 Hino box truck failed to stop and collided with both involved vehicles as well as the CHP cruiser.
