At least Tom Welling can laugh at himself after an unfortunate Instagram mishap.
The 49-year-old Smallville actor went viral on Saturday, October 10, after sharing a seemingly innocent photo of the New York City skyline from his hotel room ahead of New York Comic Con. However, fans quickly noticed his nude reflection in the window.
Welling appeared to be completely naked while taking the picture, accidentally giving followers a much more revealing view than intended.
The photo reportedly remained on his Instagram Stories for several hours before being deleted, but not before it attracted plenty of attention online. Now, Welling is getting in on the joke.

Interestingly, the viral mishap came around the same time Welling shared a similar story from his Smallville days.
During the show’s New York Comic Con panel on Saturday, October 10, Welling recalled costar John Glover once approaching him with an unusual autograph request. “He’s like, ‘I have a picture I’d like you to sign.’ And it was a picture from the Internet that somebody had made of me completely naked,” Welling recalled.
The actor had been attending the convention alongside former castmates, giving longtime fans an opportunity to revisit the beloved Superman prequel.
