Capital City senior Sarah Wilde is seeking her first state medal in the Class 2 girls tennis singles state tournament, which begins at 9 a.m. today at Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield. Wilde is scheduled to face Springfield Catholic junior Lila Griesemer in the first round of the 16-player, double-elimination bracket. Wilde qualified for the state tournament by winning the District 5 Tournament singles title Sept. 30 at the Crusader Athletic Complex. She only dropped nine games in three matches at districts, defeating Grain Valley’s Cate Barnes 6-4, 6-1 in the championship match.
