Taylor Swift.
The pop superstar was the biggest winner at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards. She went into the night with the most nominations, and left with nine wins including artist of the year, best pop, song of the year and video of the year.
Tuesday's wins made her the second-most awarded artist in the show's history. She's also tied for the most wins in one night.
It was the second year in a row she took home the night's top prize, having won Video of the Year for “All Too Well” (10 Minute Version) (Taylor's Version).
VMAs nominations with eight nods, including video of the year and artist of the year. She has already scored two of the VMAs’ signature Moonman statues for best pop and song of the year.
“I’m not doing well pivoting from this to this [from being an NSYNC fan to accepting an award],” Swift said. “Like, I had your [NSYNC] dolls!”
Swift then continued the group’s ongoing reunion teasers by saying, “Are you guys gonna do something? I need to know what it is!”
Shakira won in 2007, followed by “Telephone” by Lady Gaga featuring Beyoncé in 2010.
In 2015, during her “1989” era, Swift brought her “Bad Blood” music video squad – Karlie Kloss, Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid, Hailee Steinfeld and Cara Delevingne, among others – along with her to the show. She also made an ultimately short-lived amends with West when she presented him with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award that year.
And in 2022, she announced that she’d be releasing “Midnights” while accepting the award for best longform video.
She won her third award of the night in the "Best Direction" category for "Anti-Hero," her 17th total win. This is her third victory the category after winning last year for "All Too Well: The Short Film" and in 2020 for "The Man."
