Sergio Rico hailed his wife's support and dedication as he left the hospital for the first time on Friday following his miraculous recovery from a life-threatening accident. 
The 29-year-old suffered major blows to the head and neck as he was trampled by a horse, and spent 36 days in intensive care as medical staff tried to safe his life. 
 PSG team mates during title celebrations in May, thanked those who had assisted in his remarkable recovery. But was keen to reserve special praise for Alba Silva, his wife, who stayed by his side during the ordeal. 
The 29-year-old had been a patient at the Virgen del Rocio Hospital in Seville for the past 82 days.
He was rushed there on May 28 after suffering severe head injuries when he was hit by a runaway horse and mule cart during a pilgrimage in El Rocio.
Sergio Rico was in intensive care for the first 38 days of his hospital stay and he underwent multiple operations.
He told journalists that he would take a rest and be at home for a few more months. He said, “I wanted to thank the football world that has sent me messages of support. Everyone who has stopped for a minute to give me support. I thank them. Also, of course, to the Hospital Virgen del Rocio, who are professionals of the highest order.” Thanking his teammates, the star goalkeeper said, “The first day I arrived here (at the hospital) the Biris (Sevilla fans) came to see me. I am grateful for .. Starting to cry, Rico added: "I feel very emotional. Thanks above all to my wife, who has spent almost 20 hours a day with me."
He also said that he had been grateful for the support shown to him by fans of Sevilla FC during his time in hospital.
Rico was born in Seville and spent 14 years at his local club before moving to PSG in 2020.
Sergio Rico suffered the injury and was admitted to a hospital, PSG were to play against Clermont Foot in Liga 1 game 2022-23. The Spaniard joined Paris Saint Germain in 2020.
