Dan Hooker has an injury broken arm after UFC 290

News by : (PRESSBEE) -

Dan Hooker suffered more than a scratch at UFC 290.

Though Hooker (23-12 MMA, 13-8 UFC) defeated Jalin Turner (13-7 MMA, 6-4 UFC) by unanimous decision on the pay-per-view main card at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, he did not walk away unscathed.

UFC, Turner comes in against Hooker looking to rebound after a tough, competitive loss to Mateusz Gamrot in March. A win here would put Turner right back into the mix at 155 pounds, assuming that is his future. Turner did miss weight for this contest, putting his future at lightweight in jeopardy.

Hooker had been asked by commentator Joe Rogan post-fight if he had broken his arm during the bout, not that the 33-year-old showed any signs of discomfort in the victory.

“It’s just a scratch. We’ll have to see,” Hooker replied.

Hooker did not attend his post-fight press conference to provide an update, instead being transported to a local hospital, but he did share his X-ray on social media showing a clearly broken bone.

Jalin Turner barnburner.

Hooker and Turner went to war for three hard rounds tonight (Sat., July 8, 2023) inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, with both men absorbing significant damage. In the end, it was Hooker who had his hand raised, although it couldn’t have been closer. Two judges gave him the fight 29-28, with one dissenting judge handing it to Turner 28-29.

With the win, Hooker has won back-to-back fights. In November, he beat Claudio Puelles via second-round TKO due to a body kick.

Hooker still harbours ambitions of becoming a champion in the red-hot 155lb weight class and can get himself back in the mix with this win.

Two of the tallest fighters in the lightweight division, Hooker and Turner stayed just at the end of each other’s range for the duration.

After a close first round, Turner busted up Hooker in the second, hitting him with a high kick that would have put most people out.

Instead, he withstood it, fired back, and nearly choked Turner out at the end of the round.
