AEW Forbidden Door 2023 live stream, and full results are below. Tony Khan announced that Adam Cole vs Tom Lawlor (which was set up by MJF) is off, because Cole has been taken down by an "illness." Oh, and Tetsuya Naito is Darby and Sting's partner against Le Suzuki Gods.
One lingering question: will ex-NJPW star Kota Ibushi debut tonight? Omega's former manager Don Callis promised to give Ospreay some protection at Forbidden Door on Dynamite, so wouldn't it make sense for a surprise ally to help Omega?
Elsewhere on the card, the night will open with MJF's AEW World Championship title defense over Hiroshi Tanahashi. Also, Sanada should steam over Jungle Boy in his IWGP World Heavyweight Championship defense, and set up Jack Perry's heel turn on his new best friend Hook, who's set to corner him. Toni Storm is also likely to retain her title against Willow Nightingale.
The addition of Omega, Danielson and CM Punk—none of which were on the show last year—figures to catapult Forbidden Door 2023 to the next level and should result in significantly more interest and PPV buys. The blockbuster event also should lay the framework for several interesting storyline developments on AEW Dynamite, Rampage and its new third brand Collision.
Yet neither may be the best bout of the night. That honor could very well go to a rematch of a pairing that many consider a top candidate for match of the year, Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay. The two men absolutely thrilled during their first meeting at Wrestle Kingdom in January, where Omega prevailed. Ospreay will pull out all the stops to get his win back, and there’s no reason to think the result won’t once again be spectacular.
