Fringe Festival final days (Friday and Saturday)
The 15th annual Rochester Fringe Festival continues on Friday and closes out on Saturday, with some highly anticipated free and ticketed acts.
The 12-day festival has brought music, dance, theater, comedy, film, visual arts, acrobatics, and other kinds of acts to venues across the city. In total, the festival features 715 performances across 45 venues. It’s considered New York State’s largest multidisciplinary performing arts festival. Pete Davidson, the comedian and actor known for his role in “Saturday Night Live,” is coming to Kodak Hall within the Eastman Theatre on Friday as this year’s comedy headliner. He’s coming to the festival as part of his stand-up comedy tour. The show starts at 8 p.m., and you can get tickets here.
On the festival’s closing day on Saturday, the Fringe Street Beat, an elite-level breakdancing competition, returns to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Park. Three-on-three teams will face off for a chance to win the title of Fringe Street Beat Champions and a $1,200 prize. The preliminary round gets underway at 12:30 p.m., and the finals get underway at 3:30 p.m. It’s free to watch.

This year’s festival venues have included universities, schools, museums, theaters, restaurants, cultural institutions, outdoor spaces, and more. Once again, organizers have set up the Spiegelgarden at the corner of Gibbs and East Main streets as a hub for people to learn about the festival, get food and drinks, play outdoor games, and watch free outdoor movies.
Fairport Oktoberfest (Friday and Saturday)
Fairport Oktoberfest kicked off on Thursday night and continues through Saturday, bringing authentic German food, polka bands, dancing, and German beer to the village.
The 17th annual festival is happening at the Fairport Junction on Liftbridge Lane. Local bands BB Dang, Northside Johnny, and Tryst will be among the performers. Organizers say fall is an exciting time in Fairport.

“We have two other large events. We have the Scarecrow Festival and the Plenaire put on by the Fairport Public Art Committee and all three of us planned to do this on this weekend as a celebration of having a great summer and a welcome to fall,” said Nancy Ragus, executive director at Fairport-Perinton Partnership.
The festival runs from noon to 11 p.m. on Friday, and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday. The Traditional Einsmarch Opening Ceremony will take place at 7 p.m. on Friday. Barktober Fest (Saturday)
ESL Ballpark is set to host the 29th annual Barktober Fest, Lollypop Farm’s second-largest fundraiser of the year, on Saturday.
The festival will feature live music, contests, children’s activities, and a large community walk with pets. It starts at 9 a.m. with check-in, and the walk gets underway at 10 a.m. There will also be a bounce house, pitching station, a dog costume contest, and a table set up by BricksRoc, an independent LEGO store. The funds will help to support the shelter’s programs as it expands its Fairport campus.
Tickets cost $5, and children 12 and under are free. You can get tickets or donate to Lollypop Farm here. Dogs at the event must remain leashed at all times and must be up-to-date on all required vaccinations. Free parking will be available in Lot D of ESL Ballpark. Lollypop Farm aims to raise $220,000 from the community.
