Derek Hough and his wife, Hayley Erbert, welcomed their first child in December 2025. The couple has shared glimpses of the newborn on social media as they adjust to being a family of three.
On Saturday, Jan. 17, Hough, 40, took to his Instagram Stories to share a couple of videos of himself playing the piano, captioning the posts with one word: "lullaby." In another slide, the Dancing With the Stars judge said that he's excited to write a song for his baby girl.
"One of these days I'm going to write a song for my beautiful daughter Everley. A melody just for her," Hough wrote. The new dad is extremely talented in many areas of music, and can play a number of different instruments including the guitar and the drums.
Hough wouldn't be the first Dancing With the Stars cast member to do something like this, either. Just before welcoming his first child, Mark Ballas—who is best friends with Hough— along with his wife, BC Jean, penned a song for their baby. Prior to the birth of Banksi Wylde Ballas, the couple wrote "So Small."
"This song is a musical diary of the beautiful chaos and transformative journey of becoming a parent. It all started with a guitar riff and concept we were saving for when we had a baby of our own," Ballas and his wife, who perform together as Alexander Jean, captioned a YouTube video."Once we got the good news that we were expecting, we were able to tap into our raw emotions that this next chapter of life brings, painting an intimate portrait of this new overwhelming love for our tiny human we have yet to meet. This lullaby is for anyone who is a parent or expecting to be," they added.
Meanwhile, Hough has written quite a few songs, including one for Erbert that was released before the couple's 2023 wedding. "Hold Back Time" is a charming love song that shows off Hough's talents—and the love he has for his wife.
Hough and Erbert announced the birth of Everley on January 5.
"Every step of our lives has led us to you. Our hearts have been cracked wide open and our world is forever changed," Hough captioned an Instagram post.
