80s Rock Band Announces New Music After Five Years

Fans of Artillery received some exciting news on Saturday morning.

The Danish metal rock group announced some major updates on Facebook. They revealed that they recently signed a contract with Mighty Music and a mini album will be released this spring.

The last time Artillery released new music was in 2021 — their tenth studio album, X. The group, which consists of Michael Stützer, Martin Steene, Peter Thorslund, René Loua and Frederik Kjelstrup Hansen, was formed in 1982 and pioneered the Danish metal scene. Artillery released three studio albums and toured extensively throughout the 1980s and 1990s before disbanding in 1991. They reunited seven years later, but split up once again. In 2007, they reformed again and are still active in the industry to this day.

"We’re excited about this collaboration. More info coming soon," they wrote in their caption. "Stay metal. Artillery."

According to Blabbermouth, the EP was mixed in October at Medley Studio in Copenhagen. In 2024, Artillery released a live album titled Raw Love (At Copenhell) under Mighty Music, which features live versions of their hit songs like "By Inheritance," "The Devil's Symphony" and nine other tracks.

Artillery was one of the biggest European metal bands in the 1980s. The debut album they released in 1985, Fear of Tomorrow, and their follow-up,Terror Squad, gained them popularity in Europe and worldwide. Despite their success, the band broke up for the first time in 1991 to pursue projects of their own.

Mighty Music released a CD compilation titled Deadly Relics, which featured a mix of old demos and two unreleased songs. This inspired the band to reunite and record their fourth album, B.A.C.K, which was put out in 1999. In 2000, the band split for the second time, before reuniting again in 2008.

In an article published in June 2022, Artillery was set to perform at the MTV Headbangers Ball Tour and was reportedly working on their eleventh studio album that was set to be released in 2023.

So far, there is no additional information on the mini album's details, such as tracklist or a release date. Fans can listen to their discography on all streaming platforms.
