British cycling hero Chris Froome has shared a glimpse of the brutal damage he sustained in a sickening crash last summer.
Froome, a four-time Tour de France winner, suffered a broken back and collapsed lung among other injuries when he crashed while training in the south of France.
The 40-year-old was immediately airlifted to hospital and successfully underwent surgery.
Thankfully the two-time Olympian is on the mend having been released from the Hôpital d’Instruction des Armées Sainte-Anne in early September.
Given the severe nature of the crash, the Kenyan-born Froome picked up more than a few battle scars.
Fans have now been given an insight into the damage sustained by Froome several months after the incident, as he showed off a picture of him receiving treatment.
In the picture, which Froome shared to his Instagram story on Thursday, the cyclist is seen having cream applied to the right side of his body where several scars remain visible.
Froome added the caption: “Recovery powered by @indibarehab.en.”
According to Indiba’s website, they specialise in technology which helps with ’empowering individuals to enhance their lives and accelerate recovery from injuries across various sectors.’
Indiba’s site also claims they are trusted by football giants Barcelona, Spanish international footballer Ferran Torres as well as NFL quarterback Kirk Cousins among others.
Aside from continuing his rehabilitation, Froome has kept himself busy and made an appearance at a star-studded charity event in Zurich last September.
Froome was joined on a panel at the gala by former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, athletics superstar Usain Bolt and two-time F1 world champion Mika Hakkinen.
The 40-year-old won the Tour de France in 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2017More appearances at similar events could be on the cards for Froome given the ex-Team Ineos rider, who joined Israel – Premier Tech in 2021, conceded his time as a professional cyclist may be coming to a close.
In an interview with cycling news site Bici.PRO, Froome was uncertain about his future as he laid out what he plans to do once he steps away from the sport for good.
“My contract is expiring and I don’t know if I’ll continue or not,” Froome said.
“What’s certain is that when I stop, as I’ve been saying for some time, I want to open a cycling school in Africa.
“I want to give lots of young people the opportunity to ride and pursue a career.
“I think it’s a growing continent, especially in that part of Africa.
Froome has won seven Grand Tour events, including the Giro d’Italia in 2018“I’m thinking of the Ethiopian and Kenyan marathon and middle-distance runners.
“I think there are talents like that who are also suited to cycling, they just haven’t had the opportunity to race before.
“I won’t be racing in the World Championships in Rwanda, and it’s clear that I would have liked to be there, but it’s not a big problem because it doesn’t change my plans.
“My real goal is to develop a great project that I’m sure will bring interesting new riders.”
