Fox Sports has replaced Mark Sanchez for his scheduled appearance in the booth this weekend.
The former New York Jets quarterback was scheduled to call the Seattle Seahawks trip to Florida to face the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday in NFL Week 6.
Fox has been forced into the change as Sanchez faces a felony battery charge over an incident which left him with stab wounds and in the hospital.
Last week, Brady Quinn stepped in at short notice to replace Sanchez, while this week it will be three-time Super Bowl champion Mark Schlereth who steps in alongside play-by-play announcer Chris Myers.
Schlereth has been working as a color commentator for Fox since 2017 and is one of the most recognizable voices across the NFL.
Mark Sanchez broadcast future unclear
It remains to be seen what Sanchez’s future holds in the booth after he was involved in a confrontation on Saturday morning with 69-year-old truck driver Perry Tole.
Tole was left with serious injuries and claims he feared for his life. He was released from hospital on Thursday.
Sanchez was stabbed and pepper-sprayed by the truck driver in Indianapolis, where he was due to cover an NFL game between the Colts and the Las Vegas Raiders the following day.
“One of the challenges you have in a case like this is that you are dealing with individuals who are receiving medical care and that’s, obviously, the most important thing, that individuals are treated appropriately,” Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears said on Monday.
“But once we were provided with additional information about the victim’s current medical condition, it became clear to us that additional charges needed to be filed.”
Police have said the incident followed a dispute over a parking space.
“We are literally talking about people fighting over a parking space and-or a dispute about where people are parking,” Mears added.

The battery charge that Sanchez faces carries a jail sentence of up to six years if found guilty.
Sanchez whose family released a statement on Monday, has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.
“This has been a deeply distressing time for everyone involved. Mark and our family are incredibly grateful for the concern, love, and support we’ve received over the past few days,” the statement read.
“Mark remains under medical care for the serious injuries he sustained and is focused on his recovery as the legal process continues. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the first responders and medical staff.”
Sanchez joined Fox in 2021 after retiring in 2019 following ten years in the NFL.
