CHELSEA manager Enzo Maresca addressed Cole Palmer’s recent injury that forced him off against Manchester United.
Palmer, 23, hobbled off the pitch almost 20 minutes into Saturday’s 2-1 loss at Manchester United.
Maresca, 45, shared an update regarding the star winger’s fitness and confirmed he will require further assessment.
The Italian tactician also admitted the England international tried very hard to be fit for the Premier League clash against United.
Maresca said: “We have to assess Cole Palmer.
“He did already a huge effort to try to play the last game.
“He wants to be there to help his teammates in that kind of game.
‘It’s more day by day, week by week, game by game, to see how he is”.
Palmer has been absolutely instrumental for Chelsea ever since his £42.5million arrival in 2023 from Manchester City.
The forward led the Blues to the Conference League trophy and a Club World Cup triumph.
And Palmer continues to pose as a focal point in Maresca’s squad this season.
In fact, many argue the versatile attacker is still Chelsea’s most important player.
Palmer has amassed two goals in four appearances across all competitions so far this term.
