In victory, ‘Bud’ becomes the first three-weight undisputed champion of the four-belt era and joins an elite group of five-weight world champions alongside Floyd Mayweather Jr.
The fight generated a gate of over $47million, the third largest in boxing history, and the numbers on Netflix were equally as impressive.
According to the streaming service, Canelo-Crawford peaked at over 24 million concurrent streams, with an estimated average minute audience (AMA) of 36.6million live.
In total, 41.4million viewers tuned in to watch the event over the weekend.
The United States made up a large proportion of the AMA viewership at 20.3 million.
But the fight was also the No.1 most viewed programme on Netflix in 30 countries, including the US, Mexico, UK, Argentina, Australia, Canada, Ireland and the Philippines.
